Atsushi Tomura/Getty Images(NEW YORK) — Johnny Depp is auctioning off millions of dollars’ worth of paintings, in the wake of his split from his estranged wife Amber Heard.
Depp is looking to sell nine paintings by famed artist Jean-Michel Basquiat that he’s collected over the course of more than 25 years, according to a press release from Christie’s auction house.
“Nothing can replace the warmth and immediacy of Basquiat’s poetry, or the absolute questions and truths that he delivered,” Christie’s quotes Depp as saying.
“The beautiful and disturbing music of his paintings, the cacophony of his silence that attacks our senses, will live far beyond our breath,” adds Depp.
Heard, 30, filed for divorce from Depp, 53, in May after 15 months of marriage, citing irreconcilable differences. Heard, who has accused Depp of abuse, is reportedly asking for spousal support from Depp.
