Homer Simpson Answers Fans’ Questions During Live “Simpsons” Segment

FOX(LOS ANGELES) — Live from Springfield, it’s Homer Simpson!

Homer, voiced by Dan Castellaneta, appeared live in the final minutes of the East Coast broadcast of Sunday night’s episode of The Simpsons on Fox, answering questions submitted by fans.

The Simpsons patriarch took phone calls from the “Fox Studios Secret Bunker.” Before he began the Q&A, he commented, “To prove that we’re live, on Saturday Night Live, last night, Drake was terrible.”

Homer was first asked which friend he likes more, Lenny or Carl. He confused the two of them — he couldn’t remember which one is black — and said, “Let me get back to you when I figure out who’s who.”

Among other questions he was asked: whether he prefers Chicago- or New York-style pizza (“I prefer Chicago deep dish because I like Italian better than Chinese”) and which job is his favorite (“My favorite job would have been being an astronaut because everything was done for me…and also I could get away from the boy.”

Various Simpsons characters made silent cameos as Homer was speaking.

Homer was also slated to answer questions on the West Coast broadcast.

The Simpsons executive producer Al Jean previously explained how the show would make the live segments happen.

“Fox Sports actually developed this program that was an advance on previous motion capture I’d seen where there’s no actual hookup, it’s just Dan talking into a mic and he’ll move and Homer will move with him,” Jean said. “I don’t think you’d want 30 minutes of it, but for three minutes it’s spectacular.”
