(NEW YORK) — Singer Christina Grimmie will be laid to rest in a private funeral in her home state of New Jersey later this week, a source tells People magazine.
“It’s just going to be a small, intimate gathering for her family and close friends,” notes the insider.
The Voice star Adam Levine, who was Grimmie’s coach on the show, has offered to pay for her funeral.
A GoFundMe page created by Grimmie’s manager Brian Teefey to support her family has raised over $164,000 as of Wednesday morning, and a Change.org petition urging Nintendo to memorialize Grimmie in the next Legend of Zelda game — a favorite of hers — has received more than 34,000 signatures.
The YouTube sensation and The Voice season-6 finalist was only 22 when she was fatally shot on Friday by a deranged fan during a meet-and-greet session after a show at the Plaza Live venue in Orlando, Florida.
