The actor was found guilty of second-degree murder at the end of last month for murdering his wife, April Jace, two years ago.

April Jace was found dead on May 19, 2014 at the couple’s home in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Los Angeles. Their two sons, who were then both under the age of 10, were in the home at the time of the shooting.

According to KABC, Jace shot his wife three times because he was upset that she wanted a divorce.  In an interview with police, which the jury heard, Jace said he wasn’t trying to kill his wife, only injure her.  Jace’s legal team argued that merited a charge of voluntary manslaughter, not murder.

Jace played Officer Julien Lowe on The Shield. He also had recurring roles on Southland and The Mentalist.
