Vstock LLC(LOS ANGELES) — Planning a trip to the movies this summer? It’ll cost you.
The average price for a ticket is at a record high: $8.73 during the second financial quarter of 2016, according to figures released Monday by the National Association of Theatre Owners, Variety reports.
The previous high was $8.70, set in the final quarter of 2015. The average ticket price for the first quarter of this year was $8.58.
The second quarter included the start of the summer movie season and the release of high-profile movies like Captain America: Civil War and Finding Dory. Both of those films are screening in IMAX and 3D, two features that boost ticket prices.
