2016 – Disney(LOS ANGELES) — The forthcoming live-action remake of the Disney animated classic Beauty and the Beast has fans clamoring for peeks of the film.  Now comes word part of the bonus material included in the upcoming release of Beauty and the Beast 25th Anniversary Edition will be a feature about the live-action version. A sneak peek has just been released online.

“When something is so perfect, why get near it?” the re-make’s director Bill Condon asks rhetorically. “The answer is technology has caught up to the ideas that were introduced in that movie.” On display as he mentioned that were computer generated but photo-realistic versions of the living candelabra Lumière, and the clock character Cogsworth.

The live-action version has Ewan McGregor voicing the former role, which had been performed by the late Jerry Orbach in the animated version, and Ian McKellen playing the latter, the lovable clock voiced by David Ogden Stiers in the 1991 original.

The snippet also gives a look at a table read for the live-action film, with Emma Watson performing Belle alongside Dan Stevens reading as The Beast. Neither are in costume.

More behind-the-scenes footage can be seen when Beauty and the Beast — Walt Disney Signature Collection Edition becomes available on Digital HD September 6th, and Blu-ray September 20th.

The live-action version of Beauty and the Beast, which also stars Stanley Tucci and Frozen‘s Josh Gad, opens March 17, 2017.
