Vera Farmiga in “The Conjuring 2”; Courtesy of Warner Bros. Pictures(LOS ANGELES) — If The Conjuring 2 scared the pants off of you, a spin-off of the current box office champ is in the works, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The Nun will focus on the demonic villain of The Conjuring 2. The Conjuring franchise previously spawned the 2014 spin-off, Annabelle.
Why another spin-off? It’s all about the numbers. Annabelle, which opened October 2014, was made for a reported $6.5 million, and earned nearly $257 million worldwide. A sequel to that film is currently in the works as well.
The Conjuring 2 has earned $49.5 million domestically since opening June 10, and over $101 million worldwide.
