(NEW YORK) — The Roots remake on the History, Lifetime, A&E and LMN networks got off to a strong start Monday night.
The 9 p.m. premiere was seen by 5.3 million viewers. The total rises to 8.5 million when considering all three airings of Roots that night.
The new take on the Alex Haley story stars Malachi Kirby, Forest Whitaker, Anna Paquin and Laurence Fishburne. It’s airing over four consecutive nights on History, A&E and Lifetime.
