(NEW YORK) — Talk about a scandal! Fans of the ABC show of the same name flipped when they heard from Good Morning America‘s Lara Spencer that Scandal‘s upcoming sixth go-’round would quote, “be the final season,” and cited show creator and executive producer Shonda Rhimes as the source.
One of those shocked by the news was Shonda herself.
Rhimes happened to be watching, and quickly took to Twitter to set the record straight. “Woah, @GMA,” the TV mogul posted.
“I never said this was the final season of #scandal. Way to make me spit out my coffee.”
Spencer later corrected the mistake online, thanking Rimes for the fix, and adding, “Yes, we can all breathe, because as you guys know, it is my absolute favorite show.”
Rhimes let it roll, posting back, “Thank you for the correction, @LaraSpencer — you have my back.”
