L-R: Chris Pine, Sofia Boutella and Anton Yelchin in “Star Trek Beyond”; Paramount(NEW YORK) — On Monday morning’s installment of The ViewStar Trek Beyond stars Simon Pegg and Zoe Saldana remembered their fallen co-star Anton Yelchin, who died June 19 after a freak car accident outside his home.

“This is still very raw for us,” an emotional Pegg explained. “It doesn’t feel right to talk about Anton in the past tense. He was such an amazing kid, a brilliant actor, always the smartest guy in the room…It doesn’t make any sense to us, you know?”

About seeing Yelchin one last time as U.S.S. Enterprise crew member Pavel Chekov, the stars implored fans not to mourn the actor.

“When you see the movie, please be happy because…”

Saldana finished his sentiment, “…he loved what he did.”

Pegg, who co-wrote the third film in the reboot series, also mentioned, “He’ll live forever. You’ll see him up there, and he’s not going anywhere. You’re almost lucky in a way if you didn’t meet Anton, because for you, nothing has changed. You’ll always see Anton.

For us, we’ve lost somebody we loved, and cared about and…”

“He’s irreplaceable,” Saldana said.

Star Trek Beyond opens Friday.  Paramount also announced Tuesday that a fourth Star Trek film is on the way, again starring the cast of the current films, and featuring Chris Hemsworth reprising his role as George Kirk, Capt. James Kirk’s father.  It’ll be interesting to see how that happens, since George Kirk died in 2009’s Star Trek.
