"I haven't been upset until today, I feel like its [messed] up they have so much power they can get shoes cancelled," the 21-year-old tweeted on Thursday. "Freedom of expression gone out the window. but that's gonna change soon.
In a later tweet, Lil Nas hit back at a user who attempted to explain why the ruling shouldn't have been a shock.
"You ripped off their design and logo. Everyone knows that's illegal," they wrote. "Someone as supposedly creative as you should have known better and designed your own shoe."
"People make customs all the time, it's never been a problem," the "Old Town Road" singer rebutted, adding a claim that the footwear company only did so "because a powerful group of people pushed them to do so."
Lil Nas X dropped the limited-edition devil-themed Nike Air Max 97s on Monday and 665 out of 666 pairs of the $1,018 shoes sold out in about a minute. The last pair was meant to be given to a lucky fan in a giveaway.
On Wednesday, U.S. District Court Judge Eric Komitee granted a temporary restraining order that prevented any more sales of the shoe, though, it's a bit late considering MSCHF told the judge that all 665 pairs of the shoes have already been shipped and they have no plans to sell any additional pairs.
