(NEW YORK) — In Living Color alumnus Damon Wayans is coming back to television in a TV series reboot of the Lethal Weapon film franchise, while something more sinister has also made FOX TV’s slate of 2016/2017 series programming.
Like the three hit movies of the same name, which starred Danny Glover and Mel Gibson as Roger Murtaugh and Martin Riggs, respectively, the new Lethal Weapon follows the cop duo as they work a crime-ridden beat in Los Angeles.
Wayans plays the prudent, by-the-book family man Murtaugh, while Clayne Crawford, of the Sundance Channel’s Rectify, stars as the brash and impulsive Riggs. Look for it to air on Wednesdays at 8:00 p.m.
Fox’s fall schedule also includes a new, small-screen version of the 1973 classic horror movie The Exorcist, starring Geena Davis, Alfonso Herrera and Ben Daniels.
Midseason entries include the spin-off 24: Legacy, which received the coveted post-Super Bowl time slot in February, and the music-based series Star, from Empire creator Lee Daniels.
Also look for a new version of The Rocky Horror Picture Show starring Laverne Cox sometime during Halloween season.
