(NEW YORK) — It’s official: Leslie Jones is headed to Rio.
NBC announced Monday that the Ghostbusters and Saturday Night Live star is joining the network’s Summer Olympics coverage in Rio de Janeiro as a contributor.
“Guess who’s going to Rio?” Jones sang in a video posted to her Twitter Monday, showing her wearing a Rio Olympics ball cap while waving an American flag. She captioned the video “RIO BOUND BABY USA! USA!!”

Beginning Friday, Jones will “attend live Olympic events, meet athletes, and spread her enthusiasm for the Olympics on-air and online,” NBC said.
Jones has been making headlines for live-tweeting the Olympics since it began. It led to Late Night with Seth Meyers producer Mike Shoemaker suggesting on Twitter that NBC send Jones to Rio and “give her a microphone.”
The network’s executive producer for its Olympics coverage, Jim Bell, saw the tweet and subsequently extended an invite to Jones, resulting in Monday’s announcement.
