Len Goodman to Leave British Version of “Dancing with the Stars”

ABC/Adam Taylor(LONDON) — Could it be that Dancing with the Stars’ grumpiest judge is tired of trans-Atlantic commuting?

The BBC Reports Len Goodman has decided to leave Strictly Come Dancing, the British show that spawned ABC’s Dancing with the Stars.  Goodman has been flying back and forth across the pond for years to judge both shows since 2005; though he sat out season 21 of DWTS, he returned for the most recent season, 22.

The 72-year-old judge said, “This adventure began when I was 60 and now that I’ve reached my 70s, I’ve decided after this year it’s time to hand the role of head judge to someone else. I’m looking forward to my last series very much and to whatever comes next.”

He added, “In 2004, I was asked to take part in a brand new BBC Saturday night show and who would have thought me, old Len Goodman, would still be part of this amazing series more than 10 years on.”

The next season, which starts in the fall, will be Len’s last.  By the way, Dancing with the Stars judge Bruno Toniolo is also a judge on Strictly Come Dancing.

It’s not clear what Len’s plans are regarding Dancing with the Stars, but the audience would surely miss hearing those magic words, “From Len…the 10!”
