(NEW YORK) — No big surprise here, really — Jennifer Lawrence is the highest-paid actress in Hollywood.
That’s according to Forbes, which says the Oscar-winner earned around $46 million before taxes in the last 12 months. As for why it’s no surprise: Lawrence, who turned 26 last week, recently wrapped up her starring role in the blockbuster Hunger Games film franchise, of which she had a piece of the profits. It also made her one of Hollywood’s most in-demand actresses, even though she made $6 million more last year.
Coming in a distant second is Ghostbusters star Melissa McCarthy, 45, who earned a nonetheless impressive $33 million, which Forbes notes is more than $10 million more than she made last year. No small part of that, according to the magazine, is a reported eight-figure up-front fee she pocketed for Ghostbusters.
Two of the actresses in the top ten aren’t Hollywood stars: Chinese film superstar Fan Bingbing places fifth, and Indian Bollywood star Deepika Padukone takes the #10 spot.
Earnings are estimated based on paydays, endorsement deals and the like. Here are the top ten highest-earning actresses, according to Forbes:
1) Jennifer Lawrence, $46 million
2) Melissa McCarthy, $33m
3) Scarlett Johansson, $25m
4) Jennifer Aniston, $21m
5) Fan Bingbing, Chinese film star, $17m
