Gilbert Carrasquillo/GC ImagesSoon-to-be newly-weds Jeannie Mai and Jeezy are using their wedding to lend support to those affected by the escalating attacks against Asian Americans across the country.

Jeannie and Jeezy have created a charity wedding registry on the wedding-planning website The Knot, in support of Stop Asian Hate, an organization that offers funding and support for Asian-owned businesses and foundations.

"For the past year, Asian Americans have tweeted, posted, and cried out for help," The Real host tells The Knot. "Violent attacks against people of the Asian American and Pacific Islander community have gone up 150% since 2020, 68% of them being Asian women."

"It’s no longer enough to say, 'I’m not racist.' We need to be anti-racist, and that’s harder," Jeannie adds.

Jeannie said the violent acts have hit close to home within her interracial relationship, as a Vietnamese and Chinese-American woman engaged to a Black man.

"It's not just the recent events that make me mindful about our distinct cultures," says Mai. "For Jeezy, everything, from his upbringing, experiences, struggles and his position in this white-centric country, is a learning curve for me and, vice versa. Part of the foundation of our love is constantly discovering our respective identities and gaining an understanding from our experiences."

Mai said she and Jeezy will "spend the rest of our lives continuing to stand up against injustice, racism and hate."

Help Jeannie Mai and Jeezy reach their goal of $50,000 by donating at GoFundMe.com/AAPI.
