Saved by the Max opened Wednesday in the Windy City, and is modeled after The Max hangout where Zack, Slater, Kelly, Jessie, Lisa and Screech spent much of their time away from Bayside High.

The menu offers items inspired by the beloved 1989-1992 NBC sitcom, like the Bayside Burger, A.C. Sliders, and Mac & Screech.

Ed Alonzo, who played a magician and owner of The Max during the show’s first season, was slated to perform at the grand opening.

The man behind the pop-up diner, Derek Berry, tells Vogue that creating the space was “like the most fun job I’ve ever had.”

“I can barely believe when I’m in there — I mean, I feel like I’m on the set of the show, I really do,” Berry says.

Saved by the Max will be open until August 31. It promises to be even busier than The Max was on TV — reservations are sold out for its entire run. However, walk-ins are accepted for dinner, brunch and late nights on a first-come, first-serve basis.
