Monty Brinton/CBS(LOS ANGELES) — Less than a week after he was fired from the CBS drama Criminal Minds, Thomas Gibson has joined Twitter to thank fans for their support.

The actor launched his Twitter account Tuesday with the following message: “I wish I could thank each of you for your friendship & support. I love Criminal Minds, & I’m disappointed by what’s happened.”

He later added, “The support you show means the world to me and my family. This is not an ending, but a beginning as well. Thank you all.”

CBS and producer ABC Studios announced Friday that Gibson had been dismissed from Criminal Minds. The decision followed reports that the 54-year-old actor, who played Aaron Hotchner on the drama, allegedly kicked a producer during an argument.

Gibson released a statement on Friday that read in part, “I love Criminal Minds and have put my heart and soul into it for the last twelve years. I had hoped to see it through to the end, but that won’t be possible now.”

It was reported over the weekend that Gibson had hired a Los Angeles law firm that is evaluating whether to pursue legal claims against the show’s producers.
