(NEW YORK) — With the release of the final trailer for X-Men: Apocalypse, 20th Century Fox really has the claws out — Wolverine’s, that is.
The closing moments of the latest coming attraction for the film confirmed rumors that the fan favorite adamantium-boned mutant basically synonymous with Hugh Jackman at this point will appear in the movie in some capacity.
The trailer shows how Jennifer Lawrence’s Mystique turns to training a team of younger mutants to battle the forces of Oscar Isaac’s appropriately named big bad Apocalypse, who has apparently captured James McAvoy’s Charles Xavier.
In the revealing closing moments, Mystique is impressed at a collection of defeated enemy soldiers strewn about a corridor, and addresses young Cyclops, played by Tye Sheridan. “Well, you’ve been busy,” she quips.
“We had a little help,” Cyclops answers — when we hear that familiar “SNIKT!” sound, and see Wolvie’s three clawed-fist come into frame, facing off against reinforcements.
The image, which closes the action-packed trailer, was also tweeted by Wolverine himself, with Jackman captioning the post, simply, “W.”
