Emmys host Jimmy Kimmel; ABC/Jeff Lipsky(LOS ANGELES)  — The nominations for the 68th Primetime Emmy Awards will be announced this morning.

black-ish actor Anthony Anderson and Gilmore Girls‘ Lauren Graham will join Television Academy Chairman and CEO Bruce Rosenblum in presenting the nods from North Hollywood at 11:30 a.m. ET, 8:30 a.m. PT. The announcement will be streamed live on Emmys.com.

Game of Thrones is one of the most popular shows on TV, and it’s very likely that the HBO fantasy drama will be one of the top Emmy nominees. It should have the chance to repeat in the drama series category.

Ken Tucker, Yahoo! TV critic, predicts, “I really think this is going to be a big year for Game of Thrones, and House of Cards, and Orange Is the New Black. Those are kind of the big shows that have been nominated in the past and will continue to be.”

CBS’ The Good Wife signed off this year, and could get love from the TV Academy. Ditto for PBS’ Downton Abbey. Other dramas worth keeping an eye on: AMC’s Better Call Saul, USA Network’s Mr. Robot and FX’s The Americans.

Speaking of FX, The People v. O. J. Simpson: American Crime Story figures to be a strong contender in the limited series category.

On the comedy side, there’s annual favorite Veep to consider. Daniel Feinberg, television critic for The Hollywood Reporter, expects it to be a powerhouse in the comedy categories.

Another HBO show, Silicon Valley, is a possible contender for comedy series, too, as are Amazon’s Transparent; Netflix’s Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and Master of None; and ABC’s black-ish and Modern Family.

The 68th Primetime Emmy Awards, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, will air live from coast to coast on ABC on September 18.
