NBCUniversal(BEVERLY HILLS, Calif.) — If Donald Trump loses the presidential election this November, he won’t be allowed to return to his old reality show, The Celebrity Apprentice.
NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt ruled out the possibility while speaking at the Television Critics Association press tour in Beverly Hills on Tuesday.
“He would never be back on Celebrity Apprentice, as long as I’m here,” Greenblatt declared.
Greenblatt was essentially asked if he or NBC feels any responsibility for the rise of Donald Trump as a presidential candidate, since The Apprentice franchise propelled Trump to new levels of fame.
“It is interesting that he was on the show for so long and now he’s sort of on the national stage the way he is,” Greenblatt commented.
However, he doesn’t think “there’s really that much of a correlation” between Trump’s time on the Apprentice and his current run for president.
Arnold Schwarzenegger is replacing Trump as host of The Celebrity Apprentice, which returns in January.
