On Thursday night’s episode of YouTube’s Released, Demi explained how the song came to be.
"I played her 'Dancing With the Devil' and she was really, really excited about that and she came up with this concept — ‘Met Him Last Night,’” said Demi, who considers Ari a "good friend." “And when she played it for me, I was like 'Oh my gosh, yes, absolutely! I would love to do this.'"
"I was so excited to get to work with her and we had so much fun singing together," she added.
"Met Him Last Night," Demi said, was representative of a time during her recovery when she was “slip[ping] up.”
“I've seen the devil, yeah, I met him last night/Had conversation, yeah, I think he's alright/Seemed kinda funny, yeah, he's kinda my type,” Demi and Ari sing on the track.
"Met Him Last Night" is one of a few collabs on Dancing with the Devil…The Art of Starting Over, including “Easy,” featuring Noah Cyrus, and “My Girlfriends Are My Boyfriend," featuring Saweetie. The album, along with the emotional video for “Dancing with the Devil,” are out now.
