Dan Aykroyd Says New “Ghostbusters” Has “More Laughs…Than the First Two”

Sony Pictures Entertainment(NEW YORK) — In a post on his Facebook page — one that unsurprisingly sparked yet another flurry of angry comments on the matter — Dan Aykroyd has given a glowing review to the all-female Ghostbusters Reboot.

In the July 15 release, Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon take over for Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, and Aykroyd’s co-creator, the late Harold Ramis, as a quartet of professional paranormal eliminators.

The first trailer for the reboot became infamous for being YouTube’s most-unliked ever, and it had already riled many fans of the original thanks to its all-female cast and a plot that will feature the originals’ surviving cast members only in cameos that aren’t their ‘busting characters.

“As originator of the original,” series co-creator Aykroyd noted, “Saw test screening of new movie. Apart from brilliant, genuine performances from the cast both female and male, it has more laughs and more scares than the first 2 films plus Bill Murray is in it!”

The comments once again set off many fans of the 1984 original and its sequel. “So basically your saying this ghostbusters [sic] movie is better than the originals? What a way to s*** on ghostbusters,” one responded to the star. Others pointed out that as the original films’ co-creator and a producer on the reboot, he has a vested interest in the new series.

“As one of millions of man-fans and Ray Stantz, I’m paying to see that and bringing all my friends!” Aykroyd added.
