October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. “Breast cancer is a devastating disease that affects millions of people worldwide while the American Cancer Society estimates 310,720 women in the United States will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer. Siouxland is estimated to have 39,350 new cases of breast cancer. And breast cancer isn’t just for women men can get breast cancer too. About 1 out of every 100 breast cancers diagnosed in the United States is found in a man.
Q102 is teaming up with J June Nylen Cancer Center for the third annual “Bras Across the Bridge” event. On the morning of Friday October 18th, we’re taking over the Morningside Avenue Bridge in Sioux City to show our support for Breast Cancer Awareness. So Donate your light used to new bras and for men, t-shirts at one of our many drop-off locations around town. This year we will create 2 tributes of bras spanning over 280 feet to honor survivors, remember those we’ve lost, and show our community’s commitment to fighting this disease. It’s a long bridge but together we can make it happen again Join us for “Bras Across the Bridge” on Q102!”
