Bebe Rexha Turns Her “Real Story” Into a Hit

ABC/Lou RoccoBebe Rexha is having a moment.  After years of writing songs for other artists, or being a featured vocalist on other people’s hits, she finally has her very own hit single, “I Got You.”  According to Bebe, the song was easy to write because it was based on her actual love life.

“I had gone through a breakup and I was finally over it and ready to fall in love,” she tells ABC Radio. “And it [had been] a while, and I found somebody that I really liked.  And it was just about telling this person that ‘I got you,’ and kinda saying, ‘Let your walls down, let me in.'”

“That’s all it’s about. It’s just very simple,” she adds. “And it came about so easily in the studio.  It just kinda flowed out of me ’cause it was based on a real story.”

Bebe was able to write such a personal song because for once, she was in the studio writing songs just for herself and her own project, rather than writing songs for the likes of Iggy Azalea, Selena Gomez or Eminem, which she’s done in the past.

“It was specifically for me,” she tells ABC Radio. “I was in a session and I was like, ‘Yeah, I need to get this story out, I have to get it out.'”

Bebe’s debut album, All Your Fault  Pt. 1, comes out February 17.  Her first headlining tour will kick off March 1 in Dallas Texas.  Tickets are on sale now.
