The FX series Atlanta is a new show from writer/creator/star Donald Glover, whose credits includeCommunity. He’s also a rapper known as Childish Gambino.
In Atlanta, he stars as a guy struggling to make ends meet in Georgia’s capital city.
“I know we’re going to get placed as a black show, which is fine, but, like, I really wanted to make a show about America,” Glover says.
Race is a hot topic in America right now, but Glover says his show is not about teaching lessons.
“I’d much rather make something funny before important or real before important,” he says.
Atlanta premieres at 10 p.m. ET on FX.
