Greg WilliamsEd Sheeran has mentioned in the past that he wants to do a movie, as well as that movie’s soundtrack. Now, he’s revealed who he wants to play his love interest in the film: Helen Mirren.
Speaking to the British tabloid The Sun, Ed says, “I don’t know what comes first, whether it’s the soundtrack or the fourth album, but both are being worked on at the moment. I mean, the movie is in the works but I don’t have any time to shoot it until 2019.”
Ed tells The Sun that there have been “talks” about adding a love interest to the film and reveals, “I would love someone unknown, but I have always loved Helen Mirren…if, like, me and Helen could do a love scene…I guess that sounds weird, doesn’t it?”
Well, considering Dame Helen is 71 and Ed is 26 — kinda weird, yeah. But we rather suspect Ed is kidding. He adds it’s unlikely the Oscar-winner would agree to it anyway, saying, “I’m not really a good actor and she’s a very good actress so I don’t think she’d want to do it.”
In other Ed news, he’s teamed with the Martin Guitar company to create a new Ed Sheeran Signature Artist Edition guitar, following the two previous models launched in 2013 and 2015. This new one salutes his latest album ÷ (Divide), and sports a division sign on the headstock and the body. 100% of Ed’s royalties from the guitar sales will go to East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices.
