Freeform/Kelsey McNeal(LOS ANGELES) — Last June, Yara Shahidi announced she was accepted to Harvard University, but was taking a gap year to work on her Freeform show, grown-ish. Now, it appears that Harvard may have to wait another year.

According to Entertainment Tonight, during the taping for Oprah at the Apollo, Shahidi said that when it comes to enrolling at Harvard in the fall, she’s still trying to”figure it all out.”

“Everybody from the writers to the production understands how much I value my education and we’re doing our best to figure out how we want to make it work, but I feel pretty lucky to be able to make a commitment to a school… and to a show,” Shahidi explained. “I’m doing my best to figure it all out.”

Yara’s decision to possibly extend her college deferment comes after grown-ish‘s stellar launch in January. With only a few episodes in, Freeform has already decided to renew the series.

Grown-ish — the black-ish spinoff — follows the Johnson family’s eldest daughter Zoe, played by Shahidi, during her freshman year in college. The series also stars  Trevor Jackson, Beyonce proteges  Chloe x Halle BaileyEmily Arlook, Chris Parnell, and black-ish star Deon Cole.
