Taylor Swift’s role in “Cats” revealed by Andrew Lloyd Webber

Raymond Hall/GC ImagesTaylor Swift will have a part in the upcoming big-screen adaptation of the hit musical Cats — and now we know which role she’ll be playing.

Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber, who composed the musical, is working with director Tom Hooper on the movie, and tells Vulture that rehearsals have just started.  While Jennifer Hudson will play “glamour cat” Grizabella — the one who sings “Memory” — Lloyd Webber says Taylor will play either Bombalurina or Demeter, the two cats who sing the song “Macavity the Mystery Cat.”

“She’s going to play one or other of the ‘Macavity’ girls,” he tells Vulture

As far as Taylor’s casting goes, he admits, “Well, basically, Tom Hooper thought it was a really good idea [to cast her], and of course, she loves cats.”

He added, “We’ll see. I mean, I haven’t met her, so I’m looking forward to meeting her and seeing her [at work].”  The movie, which also stars James Corden and Ian McKellan, is due out December 20, 2019.

Of course, Taylor probably won’t be able to join rehearsals until her Reputation tour is over in mid-November.
