According to Variety, Britney was planning to use the Vegas show to help launch her new album, which she’s been working on with hit-making songwriter Justin Tranter. But her manager Larry Rudolph tells the publication, “Everything is on hold right now until Jamie is better.”
“But once he is, she will resume working on the album with Justin,” Rudolph adds. “Right now, she’s taking some time off to deal with these family issues.”
Tranter tells Variety that he’s “beyond excited to be involved” with Britney’s album, but wouldn’t say whether or not he thinks it’ll come out this year. When it does, it’ll be her tenth studio release and the follow up to 2016’s Glory. Tranter had four writing credits on that release.
According to Variety, Britney’s father suffered a ruptured colon in late 2018 and was hospitalized for most of December. She announced January 4 that she was putting her career on hold because her dad “almost died.”
Britney’s show, Britney: Domination, was supposed to kick off February 17 at the Park Theatre at Park MGM and run for 32 performances. Britney’s creative directors said on social media that the show could be delayed “six months to a year.”
