Taylor Swift’s Reputation stadium tour kicks off tonight in Glendale, AZ, and on her Instagram Story, Taylor revealed that when she got to her dressing room, there was a special package waiting for her….from Katy Perry.
Inside the package was a literal olive branch, which of course is a metaphor for wanting to bury the hatchet with someone. There was also a letter which appeared to be hand-written by Katy — the sticker on the envelope is a picture of Katy’s dog, Nugget.
“So I just got to my dressing room and found this actual olive branch,” Taylor says in the video. “This means so much to me.” She captioned the video, “Thank you, Katy.”
One Twitter user claims that the letter says, in part, “Hello old friend — I’ve been doing some reflecting on past miscommunications and hard feelings between us. I really want to clear the air. I’m deeply sorry for…”
Last year, Katy went on record as saying that she was ready to make up with Taylor. At a live-streamed concert last June that was part of her World Wide Witness YouTube special, Katy changed one of the lines of her diss track, “Swish Swish,” from “Don’t you come for me/No, not today” to “God bless you baby girl on your journey.”
A month before she said that, though, Katy told James Corden that Taylor “started it,” and “it’s time for her to finish it.” She added, “I think personally that women together, not divided…will heal the world.”
On Sunday, Katy Perry told ABC Radio that she likes it when “megastar talent” competes on the chart, because “it makes everybody in the industry rise up even higher.” Perhaps she was thinking of Taylor?
