Billboard reports that during remarks at the Cannes Lions event in the South of France, Nick described his next album as a creative departure for him, noting that it would have a more upbeat sound than his past work.

“I think for the fan experience, coming to the shows where the songs are a bit more uptempo and brighter will be better than the breakup album I released last year,” he said. “It’s time for some positivity, I think.”

Nick also revealed that his new music has also been inspired by the time he spent traveling with friends around Europe after he wrapped his latest movie Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle.

In addition, Nick says that he wants to find “a way to make a difference beyond music and film projects,” and plans to focus on causes that he cares deeply about, such as LGBTQ rights and finding a cure for Type 1 diabetes.  Nick suffers from the disease himself.
