bill maher apologizes for using the n-word on hbo

Bill Maher apologized for his use of the N-word on Friday night’s episode of Real Time. “Friday nights are always my worst night of sleep because I’m up reflecting on the things I should or shouldn’t have said on my live show,” Maher said Saturday. “Last night was a particularly long night as I regret the word I used in the banter of a live moment. The word was offensive and I regret saying it and am very sorry,” he concluded. Maher referred to himself as a “house n—-” on the weekly show, after his guest Sen. Ben Sasse invited him to “work in the fields” of his home state, Nebraska. Maher immediately characterized the comment as a joke. His network disagreed, ripping the comment in a statement Saturday as “tasteless” and vowing to cut it from any subsequent airings of the episode.

kathy griffin’s loses tour dates over trump photo

Companies have been distancing themselves from Kathy Griffin after her controversial photo of a fake severed head resembling President Trump. Griffin already had her contract with CNN to appear on their New Year’s Eve program terminated. She was also dropped as a spokesperson for footstool company Squatty Potty and all the stops on her Celebrity Run-Ins tour have also been removed from the lineup. The State Theatre in New Jersey, for example, said it canceled her November show “after careful consideration of recent events and for the safety of our patrons.” Griffin says her career has been ruined. “I don’t think I will have a career after this. I’m going to be honest. He broke me. And this isn’t right. I apologized because that was the right thing to do, and I meant it.”

drugs did not contribute to chris cornell’s suicide

Several prescription drugs were found in Chris Cornell’s system, but they played no active role in his suicide last month, a toxicology report concludes. “It is my opinion that death was caused by hanging,” the Wayne County assistant medical examiner said. “Based on the circumstances surrounding this death and the autopsy findings, the manner of death is suicide.” Following the release of the report, Cornell’s widow said that the singer had not been an active drug user for more than a decade. “Many of us who know Chris well, noticed that he wasn’t himself during his final hours and that something was very off,” Vicky Karayiannis said Friday. “After so many years of sobriety, this moment of terrible judgement seems to have completely impaired and altered his state of mind.”

brandy was hospitalized after collapsing on flight

Concerts and personal appearances have taken a toll on Brandy, leading to her collapse aboard a Delta flight on Friday, her publicist said in a statement. “The stress of all of the traveling and working so incessantly has exhausted her. She will be relaxing for the next few days,” the statement read. The pop star was released from Los Angeles hospital on Friday after passing out at LAX earlier that day. The 38-year-old singer was found unconscious on a Delta flight that was supposed to be traveling from LAX to JFK. “Brandy has been released from the hospital and is now at home resting. She has been traveling extensively as part of an ongoing tour and several personal appearances. In recent days she has taken more than 10 long haul flights including internationally,” the statement read.

Gregg Allman was laid to rest on Saturday afternoon in Macon, Georgia, where the Allman Brothers Band singer was buried near his brother Duane and band mate Berry Oakley. Former president Jimmy Carter and his ex-wife Cher were among the mourners. The Southern rock pioneer died May 27th at the age of 69 after a long battle with liver cancer. Musician Peter Frampton and many of Allman’s bandmates (like Dickey Betts and Derek Trucks) also attended the private ceremony celebrating his life at Snow’s Memorial Chapel in Macon. Allman was buried in Rose Hill Cemetery near his brother Duane, who famously died in a 1971 motorcycle accident. While the burial was private, hundreds of fans gathered on a hill overlooking Allman’s grave while the rocker was laid to rest.
