The Michael Jackson Estate has announced that it’s teaming with Columbia Live Stage to develop a stage musical inspired by MJ’s life. The as-yet-untitled musical is being written by Pulitzer Prize-winner Lynn Nottage, and will feature Michael’s own hits. Tony-winner Christopher Wheeldon will direct and choreograph the show.
Other recent hit Broadway shows that tell the story of chart-topping pop stars through the use of their hits include Jersey Boys, about Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons; On Your Feet, about Gloria Estefan; and Beautiful, about Carole King.
