Andrew Lipovsky/NBCThe jig is up — as many suspected, that now-deleted Instagram account, @onionringsworldwide, belonged to none other than Lorde.

“It’s me!” the New Zealand-born singer confessed to host Jimmy Fallon during her appearance on Thursday’s Tonight Show, where she was the musical guest.

“I naively didn’t realize that it would be a thing that I was going to different places and trying the onion rings at each of those places,” adding, “I think they’re underrated as well. I don’t think they get enough credit.”

Lorde also revealed what she believes is the secret to a great onion ring.

“From my sort of semi-professional adventures, I think a batter works better than a crumb,” she says, explaining, “It’s a little bit lighter.”

However the secret to making an onion ring “magical,” according to Lorde is to “slightly pickle the onion before you batter it up…It takes on this acidity and its incredible.”

Lorde returned later to sing “Perfect Places,” from her album Melodrama, available now.
