ABC/Randy HolmesLogic is calling his anti-suicide song “1-800-273-8255” “the most important song I ever wrote” — and he’s got the proof to back up that statement.

The rapper tweeted statistics from the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, whose phone number is the same as the title of Logic’s song.  “1-800-273-8255,” which also features Alessia Cara and Khalid, was released on April 28.  According to the Lifeline, they received over 4,500 calls that day — at the time, their second-highest daily call volume ever.

August 28, the day after Logic, Alessia and Khalid performed the song on the MTV Video Music Awards, the Lifeline received over 5,000 calls, setting a new record.

The Lifeline also said that Google searches for the number spiked April 28 by more than 100%, and their Facebook page experienced three times its usual traffic.  There were also increases in website visits and Twitter impressions, while crisis centers reported that many callers mentioned the song.
