604/School Boy/Interscope Records Carly Rae Jepsen is taking the leap with her new single, “Cut to the Feeling.” The track, out today, is featured in the upcoming animated movie, Leap!
Set to an uplifting beat, the lyrics tell the story of a euphoric love. “I wanna cut through the clouds/Break the ceiling/I wanna dance on the roof/You and me alone/I wanna cut to the feeling,” Jepsen sings on the triumphant chorus.
Carly Rae initially wrote the track during recording sessions for her 2015 album Emotion, but it didn’t make the album.
Leap!, which comes out August 30, follows an 11-year-old orphan named Felicie in Paris who dreams of becoming a dancer. Carly Rae voices the character Odette, a former prima ballerina who gives Felicie advice.
