ABC/Heidi GutmanJust because Liam Payne is getting ready to release his debut solo album doesn’t mean he’s forgotten his One Direction roots.
The singer tells Entertainment Weekly that while his new album will definitely have more of a hip-hop influence, he’s not looking to alienate his longtime fans.
“It’s really important to do something that you want to do, but you can’t forget your fan base, you can’t forget your roots,” Liam says.
He’s also excited for people to hear what he’s been working on, telling EW, “Honestly, the hardest part of the job for me is waiting for the next song to come out.”
Until then, Liam’s going to enjoy the holidays with his family and his baby son, Bear, and ring in the New Year with a bang.
“I’m going to have a hell of a New Year’s Eve party,” he says.
