Republic RecordsLiam Payne is the fifth, and last, current or former One Direction member to release a solo single.  His new track “Strip That Down” features Quavo of the hip-hip trio Migos, and was co-written by Ed Sheeran. In fact, Ed makes a guest appearance on it…but you may not realize it.

The song features a deep male voice saying, “Strip that down girl/love when you hit the ground.”  During an appearance on BBC Radio 1, Liam revealed that the voice belongs to none other than Ed…it’s just been pitched way, way down.

“Honestly, I feel so blessed and lucky that he wanted to write a song for me,” Liam said. “I just want to say thank you to him I guess more than anything, it’s amazing, I’m humble.”

In a statement, Liam said of the song, “I’m really excited to share this new music with my amazing fans. I’ve come a long way since our One Direction debut and I hope everyone likes my new sound as much as I do.”

By the way, one line in the song goes, “You know I used to be in 1D/Now I’m out free.” Hmm…

Meanwhile, in an podcast interview with the British tabloid The Sun, Liam said he’s not sure he and his girlfriend Cheryl Cole, the mother of his new baby son Bear, will actually get married.

“I see marriage as more of a religious thing and I’m not really a religious person, so I know it’s not really on the cards for me at the moment,” he said.  “We have a baby together. You know our love for each other can’t be more serious, so it is what it is I guess.”
