Inez and VinoodhLady Gaga may play an aspiring singer-songwriter in her upcoming film A Star Is Born, but we’ve been watching her own rise to stardom play out in real life over the past decade.

The singer-actress graces the latest cover of Vogue and discusses what’s changed for over the past ten years in the spotlight.

“There has been a galaxy of change,” she says. “I would just say that it’s been a nonstop whirlwind. And when I am in an imaginative or creative mode, it sort of grabs me like a sleigh with a thousand horses and pulls me away and I just don’t stop working.”

During that time she’s also had to work through past trauma and chronic pain, which she says is now “getting better every day.”

“I get so irritated with people who don’t believe fibromyalgia is real,” she says. “For me, and I think for many others, it’s really a cyclone of anxiety, depression, PTSD, trauma, and panic disorder, all of which sends the nervous system into overdrive, and then you have nerve pain as a result.”

Over the weekend, Gaga debuted A Star Is Born at the Toronto Film Festival. Director and co-star Bradley Cooper has raved about her talent, saying they clicked immediately. Gaga says she was impressed that Bradley could actually sing.

“He sings from his gut, from the nectar! I knew instantly: This guy could play a rock star,” she says. “And I don’t think there are a lot of people in Hollywood who can. That was the moment I knew this film could be something truly special.”

The movie and the soundtrack will both be released on October 5.
