Justin Bieber sings in Spanish, sets YouTube record

Peter YangSeems like Justin Bieber is just as popular when he’s singing in Spanish.

Justin is featured on a remix of the hit “Depacito” by Puerto Rican singer Lusi Fonsi with original featured guest, reggeaton star Daddy Yankee, and the remix is a smash on YouTube, with 20 million views in the first 24 hours since its release on Sunday.  It’s up past 33 million now. That made it the biggest debut for a music video on YouTube so far this year.

Looks like the remix was what Justin was working on when he recently posted Instagram photos of a recording session. The art for the remix is one of the images from that set of pictures, a view over Justin’s shoulder in a recording studio at a lyric sheet on a music stand.

“Depacito” was already a big hit before Justin jumped on the track — the original mix been number one on Billboard‘s Hot Latin Songs chart for the last 11 weeks straight.
