Of course the movie features some of the DC heroes and the stars who play them in tights already — Ben Affleck’s Batman, Henry Cavill’s Superman and Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman. But there’s also newcomer Ray Fisher who plays Cyborg, a college athlete turned into a half-man, half-machine by his father after the young man is injured.
Although on screen you’ll see Fisher in what looks like a mechanical body, he says he had it easy on the set when it come to costumes.
“My costume was pretty easy. It was literally just a onesie,” Fisher told reporters on the red carpet. “It was pajamas — I zip it up, I put a little LED light on and I’m set and ready, ready to go. I mean my peers had a much more difficult time with certain things ’cause they’re wearing huge, like, 60-, 40-, 50-pound costumes and it’s hot, very hot.”
For Fisher, playing Cyborg is his first big-budget film role, which is special enough. But it’s more than that. “Honestly, this is my childhood incarnate,” he said. “This is what I loved as a kid combining itself with what I love as an adult, and there’s no greater feeling than that.”
Fisher’s co-star, Diane Lane, who plays Superman’s mother, Martha Kent, noted Fisher’s performance in the film as one of several that make Justice League more than just an action-adventure movie.
“There’s just a lot of great actors and acting in this film that I don’t think people are, necessarily, primed for all the time,” she told ABC News. “I know they’re expecting fun and scary and loud and a lot of excitement but I was very impressed with the backstory and how much humanity there was.”
Justice League opens Friday.
