Paul Archuleta/FilmMagicIt appears that double congratulations are in order for Jordin Sparks: not only is she married, but she’s expecting her first child.
People magazine reveals that Jordin secretly tied the knot with her boyfriend Dana Isaiah in July, and they have a baby on the way, due in late spring.
The two were introduced by their families: it seems Dana’s mom didn’t want her son to move to LA, which he’d planned to do to pursue a modeling career. So Dana’s mom and Jordin’s mom had their two kids talk via group text.
Dana tells People, “My mom was trying to get [Jordin] to talk me out of moving to L.A. because she’s experienced the industry out here. It wasn’t like, ‘We want you guys to date.’”
The two talked every day for a month and reportedly bonded over their strong Christian faith. When Dana traveled to L.A. for a meeting over Easter weekend, the two finally met. Jordin tells People, “A couple days after…I was like, in my head, ‘That’s going to be my husband! That’s my husband right there.'”
On July 16, they eloped while on vacation on Hawaii, but Jordin was shocked when, in late August, she found out she was pregnant. She tells People, “Once we got over the initial shock of it…to be able to share that this amazing thing is happening, it’s such a great thing. We did this together!”
Jordin, who swore off dating last year after going through a high-profile breakup with Jason Derulo, now says, “I’m extremely grateful because life is nuts. This is the best part so far because I have [Dana] and I have this little one and I have a new family. I’m the most content I’ve ever been in my life.”
