The British actor — who appears in two critically-acclaimed films this fall, Boy Erased and The Favourite — tells Esquire that he didn’t need advice on how to navigate dating such a public figure.
“I know what I feel about it,” he tells the mag. “I think there’s a very clear line as to what somebody should share, or feel like they have to share, and what they don’t want to and shouldn’t have to.”
To date, the two have kept details of their relationship private. Taylor’s never spoken publicly about Joe, even though they’ve been together for at least a year-and-a-half. The two were most recently spotted in NYC together on December 5.
Taylor previously had very public romances with Tom Hiddleston, Calvin Harris and Harry Styles.
