Jason Merritt/Getty Images via ABCNBC has postponed its Jennifer Lopez-produced TV special, Bye Bye Birdie Live, from December to 2018, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Lopez’s busy schedule is being blamed for the delay. She’s already involved with two other NBC projects, including the police drama Shades of Blue and her upcoming dance competition, World of Dance, which she’ll judge and executive produce. On top of that, there’s her All I Have Las Vegas residency and she has a Spanish-language album on the way.

Bye Bye Birdie Live is based on the 1960 Tony-winning musical about an Elvis Presley-inspired heartthrob named Conrad Birdie, whose rock & roll lifestyle throws a small town into chaos when he’s scheduled to give one of its residents a farewell kiss before he’s drafted into the army. Lopez will play the girlfriend of Birdie’s songwriter/agent.

This will mark the first year since 2013’s The Sound of Music Live that NBC hasn’t aired a live musical production. Others include Peter Pan Live, The Wiz Live and Hairspray Live.
