JC, of course, got his start as a Mouseketeer on Disney’s The All-New New Mickey Mouse Club in the 1990s, along with Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, Ryan Gosling and Christina Aguilera.

The beloved show has since been rebooted on Disney Digital Network. A new music video from the Club debuted this morning, featuring its young members singing two new songs about the end of the summer and the beginning of the new school year. JC plays the school principal and also got to mentor the new cast.

“I’m always open to the idea of working with [Disney],” JC tells People. “I’m proud of what I did in the club back then and I do want to see it succeed in the future because it’s such a fond memory for me.”

He adds that he’s impressed by the “very talented” new young cast.

“They are content creators,” he says. “When I worked on the Club, it was about shooting videos and doing dance performances of the songs that were currently in the Top 40, and now they’re the ones writing them.”

You can check out the back-to-school special on Club Mickey Mouse’s Facebook page.
