Like every installment of the CBS show, this one bears a Hawaiian title — this one translates to “What is Gone is Gone — but unlike the others, this one will end with a PSA for the National Suicide Prevention hotline.

Co-star Chi McBride, who appears in the PSA, tells ABC Radio that cast and crew are “very proud of the episode.”

Via phone from sunny Hawaii, where the show shoots, McBride explains that tonight, his character, Lt. Lou Grover, encounters a situation that brings his normally jovial character back to a dark place.

“Tonight, Lou has an encounter with a guy that he runs into randomly who has been accused of murder,” McBride tells ABC Radio. “When Lou arrives, the guy has a gun to his head, and he’s thinking of taking his own life.”

“We take a visit into Lou’s past, that kind of has a connection to where this guy is, mentally,” continues McBride. “It’s about Lou trying to avoid repeating what he considers a mistake that’s happened in his life over a man in a hostage situation with his child.”

McBride, adds, “It’s a very intense episode, and we’re hoping that the audience will respond to it.”

Hawaii Five-0 airs at 9:00 p.m. on CBS Television Network.
