Harry Styles heading for #1 debut; has never felt the need to “label his sexuality”

Columbia RecorsdHarry Styles‘ debut album has arrived to stellar reviews, and it looks as though it has the sales to match.

Billboard reports Harry’s self-titled debut album could enter the chart at #1, with first-week sales of as much as 250,000 equivalent album units or more.  If the album does debut at #1, he’ll be just the second British male artist to do that with a first album.  The first was his former One Direction bandmate, Zayn.

Meanwhile, Harry has denied to London’s Sunday Times that he plans to portray Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger, to whom he’s often compared, in an upcoming biopic.  “I’ve honestly never heard anything about the film. I don’t even think it’s a thing,” he says.

However, Harry seems to be aping a bit of Jagger’s androgynous rock star style in terms of his fashion choices.  He tells the British tabloid The Sun that he thinks it’s “great” that Miley Cyrus has spoken openly about her pansexuality, but he won’t cop to that himself.

Asked if he every personally labelled his sexuality, Harry says, “No, I’ve never felt the need to really….I don’t feel like it’s something I’ve ever felt like I have to explain about myself.”

“It’s weird for me — everyone should just be who they want to be,” Harry says. “It’s tough to justify somebody having to answer to someone else about stuff like that.”
