If you’re upset that Ed Sheeran was shut out of all the major categories at the Grammys this morning, at least you can cheer yourself up with this news: Ed’s releasing a new remix on Friday that’s going to feature another artist — possibly a big-name one.
In an interview with Channel 4 Radio in the United Arab Emirates last week, Ed said, “I got something dropping next Friday…it’s a pretty big f***in deal.” He then confirmed that the song will feature another artist, and that he’ll reveal which artist it is on Thursday.
Ed then clarified that the song is a remix of his latest hit, “Perfect,” and declared, “I’m just basically gonna ‘Despacito’ ‘Perfect.'”
What Ed meant by that is that after Luis Fonsi added Justin Bieber to a remix of “Despacito,” the song went on to become a worldwide smash and the biggest hit of the year.
So who’s the mystery artist who’ll be singing “Perfect” with Ed? Hard to say: he’s friendly with any number of massive artists, including Justin, Taylor Swift, the guys in One Direction, Shawn Mendes, Beyonce — the list goes on.
The song “Perfect” is a romantic ballad, however, so it’s likely that Ed’s guest artist will be a woman. We’ll just have to wait until Thursday to find out.
