Fifth Harmony’s Normani says her bandmates have been “the most supportive ever” during her “DWTS” stint

ABC/Eric McCandlessMost music groups probably wouldn’t like it if one of their members kept leaving in the middle of a tour so they could compete on a reality show, but Fifth Harmony doesn’t seem to mind that Normani Kordei is appearing on Dancing with the Stars while touring Asia with them.  In fact, Normani says they’re doing all they can to make it work for her.

“They’ve literally been the most supportive ever,” Normani tells ABC News. “Especially [because], coming into the show, I had to kind of clear it through them, just because of the scheduling and everything.”

“We actually moved a few things around so I’m really grateful for their support,” she adds. “And they’re gonna come to a show after this is all over!”

Fifth Harmony performed in Malaysia on Friday and in Singapore Saturday, but tonight, Normani’s back in the ballroom to compete. Her pro partner Val Chmerkovskiy, who travels with her, agrees that the other girls have really “been great” when it comes to giving him and Normani time to rehearse.

“It’s a lot, it’s a very demanding schedule,” he tells ABC News. “They’re on the road, they also need to do things for their show and they’ve been so flexible and accommodating for us.”

Val jokes that he spends so much time hanging around with Fifth Harmony that he’s “like the professional groupie now!” But, he admits, “I’m always dragging her [away] for rehearsal.”

This week’s theme is My Most Memorable Year, and Normani has chosen 2012, which, of course, is the year Fifth Harmony formed.  She and Val now have a lot to live up to, though, since they got last week’s high score.  Tune in to ABC’s Dancing with the Stars tonight at 8 p.m. ET to see how they do this week.
